Box Elder Hardwood Dildo

I am just a 56 year old man that’s wore out before my time. I have worked hard all my life in industry and have wound up on disability. I have always enjoyed making things. I have always had a passion for the beauty of wood. I started carving Old World Santa’s 20 years ago and have a big following and carve them all year long. As a carver I have had a few requests for dildos and at first shyed away from it. Then someone who I never expected would request one asked me to carve her one. I thought why not and did. The first person I showed it was my wife and after the initial shock she calmed down but was not crazy about the idea. Later that evening she asked me who it was for and she was surprised that it was going to someone we knew who is just an everyday mom and housewife. Then another surprise when she asked if she could have it. The warmth and beauty of wood just seemed to flow into the beauty of a sensual woman. As these were shown to friends more request become to come in and so the birth of Knotty Wood Arts. Wood Art a little on the naughty side.

What kinds of products do you offer?

Custom Made Hardwood Dildo

Hand made wooden dildos. I do a lot of custom work. This is a very personal item and only the person desiring it knows there sensuality and body. I have found a unique way of getting them right as I discuss what the customer wants and then do a cad (computer aided drafting) and send it as a pdf file. When everybody is happy I make the dildo.

How long have you been in business?

20 years of carving. 2 years of carving dildos. 10 months of selling on Etsy

What sets your business apart from others in your niche?

Attention to detail. I do not use wood that is harvested from taking down forests. Most of my wood comes from Orchards, lightning struck trees and a company that salvages old barns. I also buy the scrap from a company that makes antique rifle stocks.

What is your most popular product?

The Turtle:
The request – A small discreet quiet sex toy not recognizable as a dildo. Something the average working mom, housewife, or secretary can easily conceal or even leave out in view.

Whew, I’m just a wood carver! What to do? Being a carver takes some imagination and the wheels started turning and that’s how the little turtles came about.

Walnut Burl Hardwood Dildo (Turtle)

You need to know a little about little turtles. They love warm moist places. They really like to flip up on their belly’s and rub their bumpy little backs against something. They are shy and will hide their little heads in dark places. Their little backs are about the width of a couple of fingers. They can hide in the palm of your hand and hate to be left alone. . Part of the design is comfort to hold and if you hold his body with the belly against your palm and your index finger laying up the underside of his neck, he should have a natural feel but a good grip so he can’t get away.

These little guys don’t look like much or a sex toy but they are evidently effective for the ladies. My significant other adores hers.

What inspires you?

The beauty of wood. Sexy people. Since sexy people are beautiful the two just seemed like a good match. I like to make people happy and feel good so this just came about. The challenge of some of the custom orders. Everybody is a different size and have different tastes. Matching them up with the perfect sex toy is rewarding. My Etsy feedback makes me happy to know so far I have not let anybody down.

Where do you see your business heading in the future?

I don’t want to get too busy with it. I like to take my time and do the best job I can and each and dildo I make. Etsy is fine for now. I do 50% word of mouth business now and I may set up my own website in the future. I carve Santa’s all year long and make the dildos as a diversion from carving. Next month I plan to start making some lathe turned dildos to add to the line of products.

What is the best way to use and care for your products?

Use with the lube of your choice water based and silicone lubes are fine to use with the dildos. You know the rest as how to use it! Wash with warm water. Do not put in dishwasher.
